VS, Collins seated behind desk during press conference in Pershing Heights pays tribute to Gen Van Fleet and to the "fighting spirit" of the 8th Army. He says that 250,000 men have been rotated in the past eight months. He praises the British, Australian, Turkish and other UN contingents. He was most impressed by the "phenomenal progress" of the ROK Army, explaining that division COs have utmost confidence in their ability. (Some underexposure at this point.) Collins says that although we have tested atomic artillery, we are not ready to use it at this time. (Exposure normal from this point.) Collins states that we will be prepared to use atomic weapons tactically in a few years.
